Spain Wins Saumur Nations Cup Over Belgium, Britain, Munoz Diaz & Fuego XII Win Special

SAUMUR, France, May 1–Led by Juan Manuel Munoz-Diaz on Fuego XII, Spain won the Nations Cup at the Saumur CDIO/CDI3* with Belgium second and Great Britain third. On Saturday, the Spanish pair won the CDIO Grand Prix Special.

The three best scores that counted from Spanish team of Munoz-Diaz who also placed first with 72.085 per cent, Jordi Domingo Coll on Prestige and Claudio Castilla Ruiz on Jade de MV gave them 4,956 points in Thursday’s Nations Cup. In second place was Belgium’s Jeroen Devroe on Apollo van Vijverhof, Philippe Lorissen on Le Beau and Fanny Verliefden on Rubel 13 with 4,827 points and Great Britain’s Fiona Bigwood on Wie-Atlantico de Ymas, Gemma Green on Showtime and Judy Harvey on Fitzgeraldo were third with 4,716 points.

In the CDIO Special, Munoz-Diaz and Fuego scored 73.583 per cent with Fiona Bigwood on Wie-Atlantico de Ymas second with 71.167 per cent and France’s Marc Boblet on Whitni Star third on 70.583 per cent.

Friday’s CDI Grand Prix was won by Denmark’s Anders Dahl and Bukowski, ahead of Germany’s Ellen Schulten Baumer on Donatha S and Richard Davison of Great Britain on Hiscox Artemis.

Anders and the 11-year-old Briar gelding scored 69.362 per cent with the German combination on 68.894 per cent and the British pair scoring 67.574 per cent.

In the CDI Grand Prix Special, Ellen and Donatha S were the victors on 71.00 per cent, Anders and Bukowski were second on 69.292 per cent while the England-based Kenneth Dyrby and Rholex of the USA were third with 66.792 per cent.
